GAiGO Students' Voices

Last Saturday, we GAiGO students took part in International Bus Tour organised by Kagoshima International Citizen Society, or KICS as one of the volunteer staff. This annual event is a “One Day Mini Journey and Some of the aims are to deepen understanding Kagoshima and to create an opportunity to study local traditional culture as a group. My job was like an interpreter and bus conductor. We had prepared a lot for this tour, so I really wanted that the participants would enjoy themselves.

Our destination of this year was Satsuma-Sendai City in which we visited Iriki Samurai Residence Area, Imuta Lake and Sendai-Sengoku-Mura, a major company to produce Japanese traditional armour and props for TV dramas and movies. At Imuta Lake we had tug-of war and played sword fight. The People seemed really enjoying the games. I also had fun.

Through being the interpreter, I really felt my English isn’t enough to express what I want to say. Although I don’t want to be it, I just have to be able to do that! Anyways, the tour was great opportunity not only to experience that, but also to have a good time.
